Volunteer at Mountains & Waters Alliance

  • Mountains and Waters Farm 16922 Cabot Avenue Faribault, Minnesota, 55021 United States (map)

Join us for a work day at a sustainable off-grid farm!

Shifts are available from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, with lunch provided for all volunteers.

  • Morning: 9:30 am to 12 pm

  • Afternoon: 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm

  • All day: 9:30 am to 3:30 pm

What: We'll make biochar and remove invasive species. This is a great opportunity for hands-on learning about land care practices.

  • Lunch and snacks provided!

  • Dress for working in the woods and around fire. Avoid fragile or fuzzy clothes that might snag on burs.

  • Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required.

  • Bring a water bottle, too!

No previous experience is necessary; all tools and training will be provided. If you like, you may bring your own work gloves and any favorite hand-held pruners, loppers, or hand saws, but we will have tools if you need them.

Parking is available on-site, on the lawn right where we will be working. Volunteers will have access to an outhouse with a composting toilet.

Registration is recommended so that we know how many to expect; walk-ins are also welcome. Kids are welcome, but will need to be supervised by adults.

More about the Mountains and Waters Alliance Farm

Mountains and Waters Alliance stewards a 17-acre off-grid farm near Faribault. This diverse, sustainable property—featuring woods, developing orchards, and perennials—is a sanctuary for spiritual practice and environmental restoration. Guided by the belief that the land is our teacher, the community farms in harmony with nature to offer a replicable model of sustainable living and a refuge for times of crisis.

This will be our second gathering at the farm. Last year, our group spent the afternoon creating biochar and clearing invasive plants. We hope you will join us this time to connect with the space, learn from the land, and give back to nature.
