Working together to enhance soil and water health in the Cannon River Watershed.

About Us

Welcome to the Cannon River Agricultural Collaborative, a dynamic partnership of government agencies, nonprofits, businesses, and community groups dedicated to improving the health of our soil and water. Together, we are working to make the Cannon River watershed a thriving ecosystem that supports sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship.

Our Partnership Principles

  • At the heart of our mission is a commitment to building strong partnerships. Our diverse network harnesses collective skills and resources to support farmers, focusing on both economic and environmental benefits. When challenges arise, we work collaboratively to identify solutions, always guided by our shared mission and vision. We align our efforts with the One Watershed One Plan for the Cannon River Watershed whenever possible.

  • Our goal is to empower farmers in the Cannon River Watershed to assess, plan, and implement sustainable practices that ensure economic success while protecting our environment. We also assist farmers seeking certification through the Minnesota Agricultural Water Quality Certification Program (MAWQCP), enhancing their credibility and farm management practices.

  • We want to motivate farmers to work with us in applying practices that improve natural resources and provide economic benefits. By recognizing the successes of participating farmers, we hope to inspire others to join us and share their stories. Each year, we will report on our activities, share impactful stories, and highlight key metrics, helping the broader agricultural and conservation community learn from our collective experiences.

  • We recognize that farmers often encounter challenges that hinder their ability to achieve environmentally sustainable and economically viable practices. Our collaborative approach ensures we identify and address these barriers, creating a supportive environment where every farmer has the opportunity to succeed.
