Devavani Chatterjea
Board Member (she/her)
Devavani brings a remarkable breadth of experience across biotechnology, higher education, and federal government to her work in environmental protection. She began her career in drug discovery for autoimmune diseases before dedicating her research to understanding the links between environmental toxins and chronic pain. That work led her into environmental policy, focused on reducing harm from persistent pollutants.
As part of the Biden-Harris White House, Devavani contributed to the team that established the first federal standards for forever chemicals in public drinking water systems. She now serves at Carleton College, where she is eager to build local relationships and contribute to environmental protection in the Cannon River watershed.
Devavani brings scientific and policy expertise alongside strong skills in science communication and community convening. She has previously served on charter school and nonprofit boards as chair, on executive and finance committees, and on diversity and inclusion task forces. She looks forward to lending her experience wherever it is most useful at Clean River Partners.
